Once a knitwear workshop, this terraced building in Belgium has been reimagined by Pascal François Architects into a serene and contemporary home where light, texture, and innovation converge.

Enclosed on three sides, the home draws vitality from two carefully placed patios that flood both levels with natural light and fresh air. These open spaces illuminate the interiors throughout the day, reaching even the intimate night areas below. The renovated roof, a lightweight steel structure spanning 18 by 18 meters, creates an airy openness in the day areas. Beneath it, black wooden floors extend fluidly from indoors to the terrace, where a minimalist glass wall opens completely to merge the living space with the largest patio, erasing the boundaries between interior and exterior.

The inclusion of Sentido switches and Ellie touch displays in the finish brushed black further elevates the design by seamlessly blending technology into the aesthetic.

The Sentido switches, with their brushed black finish, seamlessly complement the black wooden interiors while providing intuitive lighting control, enabling residents to set the perfect ambiance with a single touch. Meanwhile, the Ellie touch displays integrate discreetly into the design, offering more advanced home automation features like temperature control and music management, ensuring effortless operation throughout the home. Completing the cohesive design, brushed black sockets unify the overall aesthetic, ensuring every detail aligns perfectly with the home’s minimalist vision. Together, these elements enhance both the ambiance and functionality, offering seamless control without compromising the home’s understated elegance.

From the street, the façade of black wooden slats conceals the home’s vibrant, sensory interior, where every detail, from the interplay of light to the integration of cutting-edge technology, has been meticulously considered. This project is not just a renovation; it’s a complete reimagination of space, where architecture and smart design work in harmony.
