In rural Lokeren, Belgium, architect Pascal François reimagined an old stable block, transforming it into a contemporary home that celebrates both heritage and innovation. This two-storey residence honours its historical footprint while introducing sleek, modern design. To complement this balance of tradition and technology, the homeowners chose Basalte for its intuitive lighting solutions and premium design.

The barn’s signature wooden ribbon extends around the terrace and exterior, uniting the old structure with the modern extension. Inside, Sentido elevates the interior design, seamlessly integrating with the materials. In the living areas, the Sentido switches in the finish brushed black are flush-mounted into the dark wood surfaces, blending discreetly into the warm tones. Meanwhile, Sentido in the finish satin white is selected for spaces with white walls, preserving the home’s minimalist aesthetic and ensuring visual harmony throughout.

Built on the original home’s footprint, the residence intersects with the barn without structural connection, maintaining the charm of the existing stable. The glazed kitchen floods with morning light, transitioning into spacious open-plan living areas. Within these spaces, Basalte Home offers intuitive lighting control, allowing the homeowners to effortlessly set the perfect ambiance. With a single touch, they can activate scenes like ‘dining’ or ‘cooking’, enhancing the atmosphere and perfectly tailoring the ambiance to their needs.

The home's exterior, combining ceramic panels and wooden cladding, balances rustic character with modern sophistication. Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows frame the tranquil countryside, while our smart home technology discreetly enhances functionality, ensuring the home is as intuitive as it is beautiful.
